Common Name: Jade Plant, Crassula Jade Ovata 'Shrek', Gollum Jade

Scientific Name: Crassula ovata 'Shrek'

A unique variety of jade plant, it has long, tubular, trumpet-shaped leaves that resemble suction cups, tube worms, or the ears of the popular animated ogre Shrek (hence, the name).  Not only is it a fun plant to look at, with a fun name, but is also an excellent edible plant for your herbivore and omnivore arid-dwelling reptiles to consume!

-Care Recommendations By The Dude-

Best for These Animals: Small to medium, and some large, reptiles from arid climates.  A particular favorite of bearded dragons, blue-tongue skinks, and other omnivorous or herbivorous reptiles, as it makes for a healthy snack!

Bio Dude Substrates: TerraFirma, TerraSahara, some TerraAranea

Soil Depth: Shallow to moderate with proper drainage

Lighting: High, but placement directly under a heat or basking lamp is not recommended.

Humidity & Misting: 0%-40%; none required.

Mature Plant Size & Root System: Jade plants are succulent shrubs that can get large and "woody" with age, but can be easily pruned (and propagated).  They have shallow, wide fibrous root system will develop a thicker central root with age.

Temperature Tolerance & Placement in the Terrarium: High temperature & drought tolerant.  Best used as a focal plant, or as a corner placement.

Edible & Side Effects if Ingested: Non-toxic if consumed.  When ingested, these succulents help re-hydrate your pet as well as provide enrichment for your animals by allowing them to instinctively forage for food.  Excessive consumption of succulents can cause runnier stool, but it will not hurt your herbivore or omnivore.

Pot Size & Packaging: A single 4" pot jade plant shipped in the pot, wrapped in paper.

Entertaining and durable
Size: Large
Great toy and quality. My dog that was a bit of a ruffian with his toys loved this toy. It lasted through his wild days so I bought my current baby one. Unfortunately she hates it. She wants the ball trapped inside but hates the sound of the outer and won't go near it or even let it touch her. Granted she is a bit...eccentric. All larger dogs I have ever seen with one love it. It is very durable. Really serious chewers may need supervision but average big chewers should be fine.

It is surviving a Mal Pitty and Shepherd
Size: Large
Two handles for them to carry with. Squeaky toy that my shepherd Mal or Pitty hasn’t gotten out so far after five weeks. Plays with it constantly. Starting to see small chunks come out but longest lasting most played with toy they’ve ever had.

Great but my dogs tear up the handle
Size: Medium
My dogs love this toy. It squeaks and is fun for fetch. The only downfall is my dogs are able to chew pieces of the rubber off the handle and try to eat it.

Great toy!
Size: Large
This is the best Torrey I’ve ever bought for my dogs! I bought two of them and they both love them! One is more of an aggressive chewer so this is perfect. It’s very durable. They both love that that rolls it has a handle, it has a ball inside and it squeaks so it keeps their attention for a long time and it’s extremely durable best toy ever.

Get the ball!
Size: Large
I have 2 cattle dogs. One blue heeler and one blue heeler/aussie mix that is blind and completely ball crazy. We have gone through a hundred balls over the years and this is by far the best. It can be kicked (with think boots not running shoes), thrown, or rolled by the dog if you have one of those types. One of my dogs is a chewer and he hasn't put a dent in it, in months. The ball bounces when kicked/thrown and makes that odd noise when its hit just right so its extra entertaining for the dogs but also let's our blind dog know where its at. Can't say enough good things about this ball, worth trying for sure! It's also easy to drop in the creek, sink or tub to rinse off.
